Shelby opened Performance Dance Centre in 2003. She is a member of Dance Masters of America and certified in tap, ballet, jazz, Giordano Jazz, and acrobatics. She has guest taught for many studios, as well as judged, worked in schools and worked with different area shows. One of her favorite memories is preparing children to dance along side the Moscow Ballet in their Nutcracker tour. Her students have won numerous awards at both the regional and national levels. Shelby lives in Boone with her husband Joey and their children Spencer, Roman, Dominic, and Kinley. Shelby and her Husband Joey also founded the Sleeping Angels Foundation after the loss of their daughter Maggie in 2011. Shelby finds it very important to always continue to train to
make sure she is offering the most up to date methods, choreography and techniques available.
Spencer is a 2020 graduate of Boone High School. She has been a part of Performance Dance Centre her entire life and has danced there for 15 years. Spencer has taken all genres of dance and competed in group, solo and duet/trio routines. She has had the honor of being crowned Petite Miss Dance and Junior Miss Dance through Dance Masters of America as well as Miss Dance Bravo and Miss Symposium. She was a part of the dance company Breakthrough Movement in 2020 and works with Symposium Talent Competition. Spencer has been a student teacher, assistant teacher, and lead teacher at our studio. Her choreography for competition routines has earned several awards. Spencer is certified in Giordano Jazz and plans to continue her dance education by working to receive more dance/teaching degrees and certifications in a variety of dance styles.
Becky has been an instructor at Performance Dance Centre since 2009 and has taught all ages and genres of dance. She has taught both competitive and recreational classes. She has received several choreography awards over the last 11 years as well. Along with teaching dance classes, Becky is a social worker/Case Manager at a nonprofit social serves organization. Becky resides in Jewell with her husband Nate and daughter Harper.
Meredith began dancing at a young age and grew up training, competing, and performing around the Des Moines area. She won many top awards dancing competitively as a student. Meredith’s passion is teaching and spreading her joy in the art of movement. She has been teaching and choreographing for 20 years. She is passionate about early childhood education and believes in using dance, movement, and music as a means to develop young dancers’ physical, social-emotional, and cognitive abilities. In addition to teaching dance, Meredith is also an instructional coach working alongside preschool through first grade teachers and students at Ledges Elementary in Boone.
Bobbi has been a teacher at Performance Dance Centre since 2014. She is the lead teacher for our young dancers. She works at the Iowa Department of Transportation. She is currently studying Civil Engineering at Iowa State University. Bobbi also studied Nutrition and Fitness at the University of Missouri. She has a background in Dance as well as gymnastics. She lives in Ames with her husband Darren and their three children Reece, Caroline and Louie.
Karli has been with us since 2003 and is a graduate of Boone High School, as well as Performance Dance Centre. She has been assisting with and teaching acrobatic class at the studio for 11 years. She is also a teacher at Farnhamville Elementary School. Karli lives in Boxholm with her Husband, dogs and cat.
T'Ana Selah was born in Ames, lowa. She started dance at PDC at three years old and has only grown in her love of dance ever since. In 2022, T'Ana received her certificate of training from the Department of Performing Arts at the University Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia, SA. In 2023, T'Ana received her BFA in dance from Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts. There she has not only trained and performed in various styles of dance but has also had the opportunity to mentor and choreograph for dancers within the program. T'Ana has nine years of experience teaching the fundamentals of many dance techniques to a variety of students in Ames and Des Moines, lowa. It is her goal to encourage creativity while instilling principles of excellence and precision to every one of her students.
Matt has been a frequent guest teacher at Performance Dance Centre since 2016. He grew up in Boone Iowa and currently lives in New York City. He teaches classes regularly at Performance Dance Centre over the summer and guest teaches through out the year as well.. Matt is a summa cum laude graduate of Oklahoma City University with a degree in Dance Performance, has been working professionally in dance and theater for over 20 years. Some of his performance credits include: Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago (former company member), WICKED (1st National tour and Chicago company), and various regional theaters, cruise ship and theme parks including Walt Disney World. For several years Matt served as assistant director and assistant choreographer for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the world-famous Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall in New York City; including working on many of the Spectacular’s touring and sit-down companies across the US. Matt has choreographed for the Netflix series, unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Matt has been on faculty at Gus Giordano Dance Centre in Evanston, IL and new dance group in New York City. He has taught master classes and workshops across the US for a variety of studios, schools, and colleges. Matt’s choreography has been performed at showcases in Chicago and New York, and has won many awards for dance students at competitions at the regional and national levels, as well as earning many choreography awards. Outside of dance, Matt is also a talented actor and singer, and holds a certificate from the UCLA professional program in screenwriting. Performance Dance Centre students have enjoyed Matt’s expertise and look forward to continuing their dance education with him.
This room is mostly used for our littlest dancers. It is equipped with stage step flooring and mirrors. The flooring contains a padded sub flooring to help reduce injury as well as shatter proof backing
on mirrors as a safety precaution.
This room is used for ballet technique classes as well as most competitive classes. It is larger in size to allow older dancers more room to move. It is equipped with stage step flooring, mirrors and ballet barres. The flooring contains a padded sub flooring to help reduce injury as well as shatter proof backing on the mirrors for safety precautions.
This room is used for older dancers of all levels. It is larger in size to allow more space for movement. it is equipped with stage step flooring and mirrors. Padded stage step flooring and shatter proof backed mirrors are also present in this room.
This is our acrobatics room. It is full of different mats, spotting equipment and crash pads to help our acrobats learn skills in the safest setting possible.
We offer a large spacious waiting room with plenty of seating as you wait for your dancer. We offer free wifi access as well.
